Acorn Building Services Ltd is aware of its responsibilities in monitoring and
controlling Health and Safety ensuring the safe well being of its employees and
staff. All personal protective equipment is registered and issued free of charge
to operatives and training is monitored regularly. Acorn Building Services Ltd employs the services
of a consultant Health and Safety management company to both monitor correct
implementation of the safety management procedures and to visit sites and audit
operatives reporting directly back to Acorn Building Services Ltd Directors.
All operatives are registered with the CITB and have undertaken the CITB site
safety awareness test.
All operatives hold a CSCS card in their appropriate trade.
Office and site supervisory staff at Acorn Building Services Ltd also hold CSCS cards in the following
categories:
- Project Manager.
- Contracts Manager
- Site Engineer

Acorn Building Services Ltd employ the consultancy service
Tweeds Construction Consultancy (Mr B Skelton - MIOSH Qualified) as Health & Safety Consultant to the group.
Continuous training and improvement in Health and Safety is
our aim, as a minimum all senior operatives have received training in the
following:
- Health and Safety site induction and updates.
- Manual Handling.
- First Aid
- Abrasive Wheels.
All plant operators hold CPCS certificates
in accordance with EU directives. All plant and equipment is clearly
labelled and listed on the central register, where required daily,
weekly, monthly or yearly checks are undertaken. On a yearly basis these
inspections are carried out by Alliance Cornhill Engineering in
accordance with:
- Lifting operations and lifting equipment
regulations 1998.
- Provision and use of work equipment regulations
1998.
Acorn Building Services Ltd operate Safety Management Procedures and
all operatives and staff have been inducted on the use and the
introduction of standard forms contained within the procedures file,
which is indexed as follows:
